Giving

“We no dey
give shishi”
gives a lot

“I just make money, save what I can, use what I need and give out the rest.” Said in 2020, and itemised below.

Peter Obi holding a presentation cheque with staff and students of a nursing college

₦1.15bn

in gifts to hospitals, nursing colleges, schools, universities and communities since 2020, each one named in the ledger below with its record.

The stinginess he is teased for is discipline. He does not hand money to people for effect, and what he gives goes to hospitals, schools and colleges - the institutions that pay a society back long after the cheque has cleared.
